As Christmas continues to approach faster than a cheetah on steroids, I thought I might share my current selection of festive music favourites.

Let me begin by saying that I love love love Christmas music and carols, and yes, I am that person who plays their Christmas playlist in the car from November until February until someones loudly complains. I love Christmas music :) However, there are some songs (and albums) that I love more than others - and those are the ones I wish to share!

I am a HUGE sucker for accapella groups and singing arrangements - hence I have been listening to the Pentatonix Christmas Albums on repeat for weeks now. While at first I was hesitant to enjoy a jazzed-up version of "O Come All Ye Faithful", and I still hold that Frozen's "Let It Go" is not a Christmas song, I find myself simply having to sing along in the car. Loudly. I've gotten some strange looks at traffic lights.

Also, can you let me know if the song "Hallelujah" will always be associated in your mind with Shrek?

I'm also a huge sucker for the violin; specifically, for incredible violin playing. It is a lifelong goal of mine to be able to play the violin - however in the meantime, I will find it sufficient to curl up and listen to Keith and Kristyn Getty's Irish Christmas album and fantasise about being able to play, sing and dance all at once. I'm not a lover of Irish music in general, despite the fact that I find the accent endearing, but I can never resist the Gettys. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't already!

On the topic of Christmas music and Christian bands, I have thoroughly enjoyed Christmas albums by both Third Day and Casting Crowns. In my mind, both of these bands are similar in that they are unique (strange, I know). Their singers have quite a unique sound to them, but their Christmas albums contain some songs that I could literally listen to all day long (I know this because I've done it before).

In other, perhaps unsurprising news, I am obsessed with Michael Buble at this time of year. He is more than welcome to soothe me with his smooth jazz any day of the year, but there's just something about him singing Christmas music that makes me swoon a little more.
